It's so simple you might think I'm being patronising but I've chosen this fundamental equation because it leaves no room for debate. There's no opinion involved and you'd be right to reject anyone who asserted any answer other than 2. It's so obvious even a child can grasp it and so intuitive we don't usually think about the underlying mathematical principles which guarantee that 1 plus 1 equals 2 but if you want it here it is;
'The sum of all the parts is only ever equal to the whole'.
Easy isn't it? Maths is one of the few sciences where we can be definite. The reason why equations like this aren't endlessly debated is because they've been proven! That solid foundation of proof supports the construction of more complex algorithms that drive our computers, smartphones, medical equipment, satellites and any number of other features of modern life.
So? So Jesus didn't make 5 loaves and 2 fishes add up to 5000 meals with more gathered up in leftovers than he started with. It didn't happen. You've just read the proof of why it didn't happen so if you're now trying to justify this cherished belief, perhaps by an appeal to the supernatural, aren't you putting yourself in the position of someone who argues that 1 plus 1 can equal 3?
So again; 'Will you accept evidence?' Just think about it.
